§1567. Juvenile court for parish of Orleans; vacations; inability to serve; appointments

Each judge of the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court shall be entitled to a vacation of thirty days. Whenever a judge of the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court is unable to serve for any reason other than while the judge is on vacation, the Louisiana Supreme Court shall appoint an attorney possessed of the same qualifications required of a judge of the court, who shall possess the powers of and discharge the duties of judge of the court during the period of inability to serve. In addition, a judge of the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court, when he is going to be on vacation, may appoint an attorney possessed of the same qualifications required of a judge of the court, who shall possess the powers of and discharge the duties of judge of the court while the judge is on vacation.

Any lawyer appointed to serve as judge under the provisions of this Section shall be paid a salary equal to the proportionate amount of salary of the judge whom he is replacing for the period of time for which the appointee serves as judge of the court. Any vacancy in the office of judge of the court shall be filled in accordance with Article V, Section 22(B) of the Louisiana Constitution.
