B. Application for credit for such service shall be made and evidence thereof shall be furnished to the board of trustees of the police pension and relief fund at any time prior to application for retirement. In addition, each person claiming such credit shall pay into the fund an amount equal to the employer and employee contributions, at the current rate, together with compound interest thereon at the rate of two per centum per annum on the compensation which the member would have received during the period of military service for which credit is claimed had he at that time been a member of his respective retirement system.
For purposes of computation, the following compensation of the person claiming credit will be considered: if the person was employed as a police officer prior to service in the military, the compensation received immediately prior to entry into military service; if the person enters the police force after service in the military, the compensation which he would have received in each of the years for which credit for military service is claimed had he been employed in his beginning classification for police service in the first year for which credit is claimed.

C. The board of trustees of the police pension and relief fund shall notify the members of the Morgan City police force of the privilege granted by this Section, together with necessary information for obtaining such credit, as soon as practicable.
