§3172. Composition of the fund; tax levy for additional revenue
The Commission Council of the City of Bogalusa shall levy a special tax on all property subject to state taxation within the corporate limits of the City of Bogalusa in an amount of two mills on the dollar of the assessed valuation of said property in any one year; provided, however, that the rate, purpose and duration of said special tax herein provided for first shall have been submitted to the resident property taxpayers qualified to vote in said municipality, within six months from August 1, 1962, and a majority vote of those voting, in both number and amount, shall have voted in favor thereof, as provided for by existing laws.
Said tax shall be levied and collected with and in like manner on the general taxes of the city, the avails of which tax shall be used solely and exclusively for the purpose of providing additional revenues for the fireman's pension and relief of the City of Bogalusa as herein provided for. The provisions of this Section shall be self-operative.
