196.165 Purchase of liability insurance for department's health care professionals.

(1)The commissioner of the Department of Corrections may, with the approval of the
Finance and Administration Cabinet, purchase liability insurance for the protection
of health care professionals employed by or serving the department to protect them
from liability for acts, omissions, and claims of medical and professional
malpractice arising in the course and scope of their employment or service to the
department.
(2)The commissioner may purchase the type and amount of liability coverage deemed
appropriate to best serve the department's interest.
