196.120 Department may acquire farm lands.

(1)The Department of Corrections may lease or purchase farm lands, improved or
unimproved, for the employment of the inmates of the institutions under its
supervision. The Department of Corrections may prescribe administrative
regulations for the support and maintenance of prisoners while at work on the farm,
and may construct all necessary improvements on any lands purchased under this
section.
(2)Before land is leased, the lease shall first be approved by the Governor and the lease
shall be limited to the term of the Governor approving it. The contract price of the
lease shall be certified to the Finance and Administration Cabinet and paid as other
claims against the state.
