(1)A person shall not place a sports wager on a game or event in which the person is a
participant.
(2)As used in this section, "participant" includes:
(a)Players;
(b)Coaches;
(c)Referees, umpires, judges, or other officials involved in enforcing the rules of
the game;
(d)Spouses and close family members of persons included in paragraphs
(a)to
(c)of this subsection;
(e)Owners or shareholders of more than five percent (5%) interest in
professional sports teams who might have influence over players and coaches
through the ability to hire or fire; and
(f)Other persons identified by the corporation as participants.
(3)A person is guilty of tampering with the outcome of a sporting event when the
person interacts with a player, coach, referee, or other participant with the intent to
persuade the participant to act in a way that would:
(a)Alter the outcome of the sporting event; or
(b)Alter actions within the sporting event upon which people might place sports
wagers.
