(1)The secretary of the cabinet is authorized to purchase liability insurance for the
protection of physicians, hospital administrators, and directors employed by the
cabinet to protect them from liability for acts, omissions, and claims of medical
malpractice arising in the course and scope of their employment of service to the
cabinet.
(2)The secretary may purchase the type and amount of liability coverage deemed
appropriate to best serve the cabinet's interest.
