74-4927k. Insured death and disability benefit and accidental death benefit for certain state officers; inapplicable to certain persons employed by the legislative branch.
(a)For the purposes of providing the "insured death benefit" and "long-term disability benefit" as prescribed in K.S.A. 74-4927 , and amendments thereto and of providing the "accidental death benefit" as prescribed in subsection
(2)of K.S.A. 74-4916 , and amendments thereto, to all state officers who have filed an election as provided in subsection
(a)or
(b)of K.S.A. 74-4911f , and amendments thereto, the term "member" as used in K.S.A. 74-4927 , and amendments thereto and subsection
(2)of K.S.A. 74-4916 , and amendments thereto and as used in this section shall include such state officers.
(b)The state agency employing any member shall pay to the Kansas public employees retirement system in such manner as the board of trustees shall prescribe, an amount sufficient to pay the employer's contribution to the group insurance reserve as provided in subsection
(4)of K.S.A. 74-4927 , and amendments thereto.
(c)The state agency employing any member shall maintain a file of the beneficiaries named by the persons covered under this section in the form and manner as prescribed by the board of trustees of the Kansas public employees retirement system.
(d)Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the provisions of this section shall not apply to any person employed by the legislative branch of the state of Kansas who elected to be covered by the provisions of K.S.A. 74-4911f , and amendments thereto, as provided in subsection
(e)of K.S.A. 46-1302 , and amendments thereto or who is first employed on or after July 1, 1996, by the legislative branch of the state of Kansas as described in K.S.A. 46-1302 , and amendments thereto.
(e)Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the provisions of this section shall not apply to any member of the legislature who has retired pursuant to the Kansas public employees retirement system and who elected to be covered by the provisions of K.S.A. 74-4911f , and amendments thereto.
