31-134a. Same; compliance with certain building codes deemed compliance with fire prevention code.
(a)A building shall be deemed to comply with the Kansas fire prevention code if the building conforms to one of the following building codes, has been issued a certificate of occupancy and conforms to any special requirements of the Kansas fire prevention code which are not covered by such building code:
(1)The 1976 or 1979 edition of the uniform building code;
(2)the 1975 or 1978 edition of the basic building code (B.O.C.A.);
(3)the 1976 or 1979 edition of the standard building code (also known as the southern standard building code); or
(4)the 2000 edition of the international building code.
(b)The state fire marshal shall adopt rules and regulations specifying those subsequent editions of the codes enumerated in subsection
(a)and those editions of other nationally recognized building codes which the state fire marshal has determined provide protection equivalent to that of the Kansas fire prevention code.
(c)This section shall be part of and supplemental to K.S.A. 31-132 to 31-150 , inclusive, and K.S.A. 31-150a , and amendments thereto.
