20-124. Appointment of nonlawyer members; vacancies. As terms of office of nonlawyer members from each congressional district are about to expire, their successors shall be appointed by the governor and the names of such appointees certified by the governor to the clerk of the supreme court before their terms of office begin. Any vacancy occurring among the nonlawyer members of the commission shall be filled by appointment by the governor within 10 days after the governor has notice of such vacancy, for the unexpired term of the member whose place is being filled, and the name of such appointee shall be certified to the clerk.
All appointments by the governor shall be without regard to the political affiliations of the appointees.
