Sec. 18c-7201. Registration as a Rail Carrier.
(1)General Provisions. Except as provided in subsection
(2)of this Section, no person shall operate as a rail carrier, and no person shall begin or continue construction of any track or other facilities, other than the repair or replacement of existing plant, for use in operations as a rail carrier unless such person has registered with the Commission as a rail carrier.
(2)Exceptions. Each rail carrier operating within the State of Illinois on the effective date of this Chapter shall automatically be deemed, as of that date, to have registered as a rail carrier for purposes of this Section. Such constructive registration shall expire on the 180th day after the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1985.
