Sec. 6-123. When the electors in any townships have voted for the consolidation of such townships into a consolidated township road district for road purposes, the supervisors and township clerks in the respective townships so consolidated shall, ex-officio, constitute a highway board of auditors for such township road district. Such highway board of auditors shall organize and select one of their number as chairman, another as clerk and another as treasurer of the consolidated township road district.
The officers of each such newly organized consolidated township road district so elected shall hold office until the first Tuesday in April, 1959 or until the first Tuesday of each succeeding fourth year thereafter, and their successors shall hold office for a term of 4 years and until their respective successors are selected and qualified; except that no person shall be a member of such highway board of auditors or such an officer of such consolidated township road district after the expiration of his term as supervisor or township clerk.
Vacancies in such consolidated township road district offices shall be filled by the highway board of auditors. Such highway board of auditors shall have the same powers and duties with respect to road matters as have the board of town auditors in townships and such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by law.
