Sec. 6. The electors of any county may adopt this act in the following manner: Whenever the legal voters of such county to the number of 25 per cent of the votes cast at the general election or 1,000 legal voters of such county, whichever is less, shall petition the circuit court for such county not less than 30 days before any regular election in such county to submit the proposition whether or not the electors shall adopt this Act, it shall be the duty of the court to certify the proposition to the proper election officials, who shall submit such proposition to the voters at an election in accordance with the general election law.
The proposition so to be voted for shall be in substantially the following form:

If the majority of the votes cast for and against such proposition shall be for such proposition the act shall be adopted, and the court shall enter of record an order declaring this act in force in such county, and the tax provided for in the act shall thereafter be annually levied and collected in such county for the purposes specified in this act, until such time as the legal voters of the county shall abandon this act in manner provided in section 7 of this Act.
