Sec. 1-20. Election to participate in manufacturer e-waste programs. Beginning with program year 2019, a county, a municipal joint action agency, or a municipality with a population of more than 1,000,000 residents may elect to participate in a manufacturer e-waste program by filing with the manufacturer e-waste program and the Agency, on or before March 1, 2018, and on or before March 1 of each year thereafter for the upcoming program year, a written notice of election to participate in the program.
The written notice shall include a list of proposed collection locations likely to be available and appropriate to support the program, and may include locations already providing similar collection services. The written notice may include a list of registered recyclers that the county, municipal joint action agency, or municipality would prefer using for its collection sites or one-day events.
Counties, municipal joint action agencies, and municipalities with a population of more than 1,000,000 residents may contract with registered collectors to operate collection sites. Eligible registered collectors are not limited to private companies and non-government organizations.
