Sec. 25-5. Administration.
(a)The Department shall establish and administer the Program in coordination with the Illinois Community College Board. The Department may issue Program licenses to applicants that meet the requirements outlined in this Article.
(b)Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, and subject to subsection
(h)of Section 2-12 of the Public Community College Act, community colleges awarded Program licenses may offer qualifying students a Career in Cannabis Certificate, which includes, but is not limited to, courses that allow participating students to work with, study, and grow live cannabis plants so as to prepare students for a career in the legal cannabis industry, and to instruct participating students on the best business practices, professional responsibility, and legal compliance of the cannabis business industry.
(c)The Board may issue rules pertaining to the provisions in this Act.
(d)Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, students shall be at least 18 years old in order to enroll in a licensee's Career in Cannabis Certificate's prescribed course of study.
