Sec. 30. Farm-school database. The Department of Agriculture shall establish, and make available on its website, a geo-coded electronic database to facilitate the purchase of fresh produce and food products by schools. The database shall, at a minimum, contain the information necessary for
(i)schools to identify and contact agricultural producers that are interested in supplying schools in the State with fresh produce and food products and
(ii)agricultural producers of fresh produce and food products to identify schools in the State that are interested in purchasing those products. The Department of Agriculture shall adopt rules necessary to implement this Section. The Department of Agriculture shall also solicit federal and State funding for the purpose of implementing this program. The requirement of the Department to establish, and make available on its website, this database shall become effective once the Department has secured all of the additional federal or State funding necessary to implement this program.
