Sec. 120. Grandfather clause. Any person or business that, as of January 3, 2003 was installing or repairing fire sprinkler systems in the State of Illinois and had a minimum of 3 years of experience in installing or repairing fire sprinkler systems before January 3, 2003 is exempt from having a designated certified person as required in Section 20. A fire sprinkler contractor that is exempt from having a designated certified person shall have a responsible managing employee.
Beginning July 1, 2021, no person or business organization shall be issued an initial fire sprinkler contractor license using such exemption.
