Sec. 10. Powers and duties of the Board. Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Board shall exercise the following functions, powers, and duties:
(a)The Board shall hold at least 3 regular meetings each year, conducted in accordance
with the Open Meetings Act.
(b)The Board shall annually elect a Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson who shall be
Illinois licensed architects.
(c)The Board, upon request by the Department, may make a curriculum evaluation or use a
nationally certified evaluation service to determine if courses conform to the requirements of approved architectural programs.
(d)The Department may, at any time, seek the expert advice and knowledge of the Board
on any matter relating to the enforcement of this Act.
(e)The Board may appoint a subcommittee to serve as a Complaint Committee to recommend
the disposition of case files according to procedures established by rule in 68 Ill. Adm. Code 1150.95, and any amendments or changes thereto.
(f)The Board shall assist the Department in conducting oral interviews, disciplinary
conferences, informal conferences, and formal evidentiary hearings.
(g)The Board shall review applicant qualifications to sit for the examination or for
licensure and shall make recommendations to the Department except for those applicant qualifications that the Board designates as routinely acceptable.
(h)The Board may recommend that the Department contract with an individual or a
corporation or other business entity to assist in the providing of investigative, legal, prosecutorial, and other services necessary to perform its duties pursuant to subsection
(c)of Section 8 of this Act.
