Sec. 8.3. Basic health screenings. A speech-language pathologist or an audiologist may perform basic health screenings and create the resulting plans of care if:
(1)the elements of the plan of care are within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologist or an audiologist and
(2)the speech-language pathologist or audiologist is trained in the performance of basic health screenings as set forth by rule from one of the following:
(A)as part of the curriculum of an approved program,
(B)through worksite training, or
(C)through continuing education. A plan of care that includes elements that are outside the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologist or an audiologist must be referred to appropriate medical personnel for further evaluation or management.
