Sec. 2. There is created the Governor's Council on Health and Physical Fitness, hereafter referred to as the Council. The Council shall consist of no more than 50 residents of Illinois who have distinguished themselves in sports or who maintain an active concern for the health and physical well being of the citizens of Illinois. All the members of the Council shall be appointed by the Governor and shall serve terms on the Council at his pleasure without compensation. On the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1997, no more than 25 members of the Council shall be appointed to 2-year terms which shall expire on December 31, 1999 and no more than 25 members shall be appointed to 4-year terms which shall expire on December 31, 2001.
On or after January 1, 2000, all successive appointments to the Council shall be for 4-year terms.
The Illinois Department of Public Health shall provide the Council with such administrative, technical and clerical support services as it may need to carry out its duties, including all filings necessary to transfer ownership of any copyright interests from the Illinois Governor's Health and Physical Fitness Council to the Governor's Physical Fitness and Sports Council.
The changes to this Act made by this amendatory Act of 1992 shall not affect
(1)any proceeding commenced prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act to which the Council is a party;
(2)the validity of any procedure, policy, or action of the Council that was adopted or taken prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act; nor
(3)the term of service of any member of the Council. Any rules adopted under Section 7 of this Act are hereby repealed.
