Sec. 33-1c. Reapportionment of board voting districts. In the year following each decennial census, the Board of Education shall reapportion the board voting districts to reflect the results of such census. The board voting districts shall be compact, contiguous and have substantially the same ratio of population to the total population of the school district as the ratio of the board members elected from that board voting district has to the total number of members of the Board of Education.
The reapportionment plan shall be completed and formally approved by a majority of the members of the board not less than 90 days before the last date established by law for the filing of nominating petitions for the second school board election after the decennial census year. If by reapportionment a board member no longer resides within the board voting district from which the member was elected, the member shall continue to serve in office until the expiration of the member's regular term.
All new members shall be elected from the board voting districts as reapportioned.
