When a committed public patient or a voluntary public patient or a committed private patient dies while at the state psychiatric hospital or at the university hospital, the state psychiatric hospital shall have the body prepared for shipment in accordance with the rules prescribed by the department of health and human services for shipping such bodies. It is the duty of the state board of regents to make arrangements for the embalming and such other preparation as necessary to comply with the rules and for the purchase of suitable caskets.
