§139 -1 Definitions. As used in this chapter, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Board" means the law enforcement standards board.
"Law enforcement agency" [Definition effective July 1, 2026.] means:
(1)A county police department;
(2)The department of law enforcement;
(3)The department of land and natural resources;
(4)The department of taxation; or
(5)The department of the attorney general.
"Law enforcement officer" means:
(1)A police officer employed by a county police department;
(2)An employee of the department of law enforcement conferred with police powers by the director of law enforcement; or
(3)An employee of the department of land and natural resources, department of taxation, or department of the attorney general who is conferred by law with general police powers. [L 2018, c 220, pt of §2; am L 2022, c 278, §§9, 41; am L 2024, c 246, §3]
