(a)For each registration of a new motor vehicle with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles pursuant to chapter 246, the person registering such vehicle shall pay to the commissioner a fee of fifteen dollars, in addition to any other fees required for registration, for the following registration types: Passenger, motor home, combination or antique.
(b)For each new registration or renewal of registration of any motor vehicle, except a new motor vehicle, with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles pursuant to chapter 246, the person registering such vehicle shall pay to the commissioner a fee of seven dollars and fifty cents for registration for a triennial period and five dollars for registration for a biennial period for the following registration types: Passenger, motor home, combination or antique. Any person who is sixty-five years of age or older and who obtains a one-year registration renewal for any motor vehicle under section 14-49 for such registration type shall pay two dollars and fifty cents for the annual registration period.
(c)The fee imposed by this section may be identified as the “greenhouse gas reduction fee” on any registration form, or combined with the fee specified by subdivision
(3)of subsection
(k)of section 14-164c on any registration form. Payments collected pursuant to the provisions of this section shall be deposited into the Connecticut hydrogen and electric automobile purchase rebate program account, established pursuant to subsection
(h)of section 22a-202 . No part of the greenhouse gas reduction fee shall be subject to a refund under subsection
(z)of section 14-49 .
