Whenever maintenance of way crews or employees are working in the area of double or multiple railroad tracks the following safety precautions are required:
(1)All trains shall be notified of the location, by mile post, of the crews or employees working on the track, such notification shall be in writing to the train engineer from the carrier;
(2)all trains operating on such tracks shall operate at a speed not to exceed fifty miles per hour;
(3)one member of the crew shall be assigned as a flag person to warn other crewmen or employees of approaching trains and such flagperson shall be equipped with a radio, horn and flag; and
(4)no work shall be conducted and all crewmen or employees shall stand clear while a train is approaching and passing through a work area.
