(a)The University of Connecticut shall submit or participate in the submittal of a proposal for federal funding under the United States Department of Energy Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs program to support the establishment, development and operation of a center for sustainable aviation. The university shall, provided the university is awarded, and elects to accept, such federal funding, establish such center, which shall have at least one facility on a campus of The University of Connecticut at Storrs. The university shall consult with the Department of Economic and Community Development in completing the requirements of this subsection.
(b)If the university is awarded federal funding, as described in subsection
(a)of this section, and elects to accept such federal funding, it shall notify the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development of such acceptance. Not later than ninety days after such notification is provided, the Department of Economic and Community Development shall provide a grant to the university in the amount of the state's share, as determined by said commissioner and pursuant to the proposal and the final award, of the capital costs of the center described in subsection
(a)of this section or twenty million dollars, whichever is less, to be used by the university for the purposes set forth in subsection
(a)of this section.
