Not later than July 1, 2012, the Department of Education shall approve and make available model curricula and frameworks in mathematics for grades prekindergarten to grade four, inclusive, for use by local and regional boards of education for school districts or individual schools identified by the department as having achievement gaps, as defined in section 10-14u . Such curricula and frameworks shall be culturally relevant, research-based and aligned with student achievement standards adopted by the State Board of Education.
