For the purpose of maximizing the anti-hunger impact of Section 66027.8 of the Education Code, the department shall consult with stakeholders, including legislative staff, representatives of counties, CalFresh eligibility workers, representatives from each segment of public postsecondary education, advocates for CalFresh recipients, and other stakeholders as identified by the department, with the goals of improving coordination between the segments of public postsecondary education and CalFresh administering agencies and improving access to CalFresh for low-income public postsecondary students.
To the extent possible, this consultation shall take place through existing workgroups convened by the department.
