The money in the Floodplain Mapping Subaccount, upon appropriation by the Legislature to the department, may be used by the department for the purpose of assisting local land-use planning, and to avoid or reduce future flood risks and damages. The use of the funds in that subaccount by the department shall include, but is not limited to, all of the following:
(a)Mapping newly identified floodplains.
(b)Mapping rural areas with potential for urbanization.
(c)Mapping flood hazard areas with undefined 100-year flood elevations.
(d)Updating outdated floodplain maps.
(e)Accelerating mapping of riverine floodplains, alluvial fans, and coastal flood hazard areas.
(f)Collecting topographic and hydrographic survey data.
