The district board shall have power to fix the amount of compensation per meeting to be paid each member of the board for his or her services for each meeting attended by him or her; provided, that the compensation shall not exceed ten dollars ($10) for each meeting of the district board attended by him or her, together with expenses necessarily incurred by him or her in traveling between his or her place of residence and the place of meeting. However, no member shall receive compensation for attending more than three meetings of the board during any calendar month.
This compensation shall be in addition to any other fees or compensation allowed by law for the other official positions specified in Section 56030 that are occupied by members of the district board. For purposes of this section, the determination of whether a director’s activities on any specific day are compensable shall be made pursuant to Article 2.3 (commencing with Section 53232) of Chapter 2 of Part 1 of Division 2 of Title 5 of the Government Code. Reimbursement for these expenses is subject to Sections 53232.2 and 53232.3 of the Government Code.
