§ 48671.5

The manufacturer of every container that contains lubricating oils or industrial oils, and which is intended for sale to consumers in California, shall do either of the following:
(a)Label the containers in at least seven-point typeface as follows:
“Used oil is generally classified as a hazardous waste in California. Do not dispose of used oil in garbage, sewers, or the ground. To find out how to properly recycle used oil in your area, call
(800)____.”
The toll-free telephone number on the label shall be the number maintained by the board pursuant to Section 48644.
(b)Provide signs or other written material to retailers appropriate for informing consumers of the information that would otherwise be contained in the label set forth in paragraph (a).
