On and after July 1, 2017, a manufacturer shall place a recycling symbol consistent with the requirements of Section 103(b)(1) of the Federal Mercury Containing and Rechargeable Battery Management Act, Pub. L. No. 104-142
(1996)(42 U.S.C. 14301(b)(1)) and either “Pb” or the words “lead,” “return,” and “recycle” on all replacement lead-acid batteries sold in California. For purposes of this section, an entity that engages another party to manufacture batteries on its behalf shall be deemed the manufacturer.
