“State peace officer/firefighter member” also includes the employees of a California State University police department, established pursuant to Section 89560 of the Education Code, who have been designated as peace officers as defined in Section 830.2 of the Penal Code, and who are
(a)members represented by Public Safety Unit No. 8, or
(b)members excluded from the definition of employee in Section 3562 or are supervisory employees as defined in Section 3580.3, provided that these employees have responsibility for the direct supervision of the state peace officer/firefighter members represented in Public Safety Unit No. 8. The Trustees of the California State University shall notify this system when employees meet these conditions and whenever a state peace officer/firefighter member ceases to meet the conditions.
