In making available to pupils the application for participation in the free or reduced-price meal program provided for under subdivision
(a)of Section 49557, each school district and county superintendent of schools is encouraged to include information that parents may use to request information concerning the Medi-Cal program administered pursuant to Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 14000) of Part 3 of Division 9 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, and the Healthy Families Program, administered pursuant to Part 6.2 (commencing with Section 12693) of Division 2 of the Insurance Code. School districts and county superintendents of schools are encouraged to perform this task in the most cost-beneficial manner.
