Except as provided in Section 22717, no service credit shall be granted under this part for any payment made for accumulated sick leave upon transfer from one employer to another, upon termination of service, upon retirement, or upon death. No contributions under this part shall be withheld from any such payments. Payments for accumulated sick leave shall be paid to the member by separate warrant and shall not be included in any payroll warrant issued to the member. The payments shall not be included in the determination of “final compensation” under this part.
No continued leave of absence shall be granted a member solely for the purpose of allowing the member to receive compensation for accumulated sick leave for which the member could otherwise have elected to receive payment.
