In this Act: The term Board means the Board on Geographic Names established by section 2 of the Act of July 25, 1947 ( 43 U.S.C. 364a ). The term Committee means the Advisory Committee on Reconciliation in Place Names established by section 4(a). The term Federal land unit includes— National Forest System land; a unit of the National Park System; a component of the National Wilderness Preservation System; any part of the National Landscape Conservation System; and a unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
The term Indian Tribe has the meaning given the term in section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act ( 25 U.S.C. 5304 ). The term offensive place name means a domestic geographic place name or Federal land unit name that— recognizes an individual who— held racially repugnant views; committed atrocities against Native Americans; or supported or effectuated discriminatory policies; or carried out other injustices against racial minorities; contains a racial or sexual slur; perpetuates racial, ethnic, or gender-based stereotypes; or is derogatory or otherwise offensive.
The term Tribal organization has the meaning given the term in section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act ( 25 U.S.C. 5304 ). The term Secretary means the Secretary of the Interior.
