Sec. 561. Legal assistance for guardianship transfers

The Secretary of each military department shall provide to members of the Armed Forces serving on active duty access to legal services provided by an attorney specializing in guardianship transfers in each State in which a military installation is located. Not later than September 1, 2026, the Secretary of each military department shall brief the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives on the following: A plan for implementing the requirement to provide access to legal services described in subsection (a).
Any challenges associated with implementation of that requirement. Data on the number of members of the Armed Forces with guardianship of incapacitated adult dependents or a plan to gather such data. Any other matters the Secretary considers relevant.
