Sec. 847. Sourcing options for certain critical products

As soon as practicable, but not later than fiscal year 2031, the Secretary of Defense shall ensure that the Department of Defense maintains multiple sources for products in the following critical sectors: Castings and forgings. Missiles and munitions. Energy storage and batteries. Strategic and critical materials. Microelectronics. Any other critical sector as determined by the Secretary. The Secretary of Defense may waive the requirement under subsection
(a)if the Secretary determines that maintaining multiple sources is unfeasible. The Secretary shall notify the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives not later than 30 days after issuing such a waiver.
