Section 603A of the Harmful Algal Bloom and Hypoxia Research and Control Act of 1998 ( 33 U.S.C. 4002 ) is amended— in subsection (e)— by redesignating paragraphs
(10)and
(11)as paragraphs
(11)and (12), respectively; and by inserting after paragraph
(9)the following: enhance competitive grant programs to support shellfish mariculture and expand access to testing for harmful algal bloom toxins for subsistence and recreational shellfish harvesters through innovative methods that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of such testing in rural and remote areas; ; and by adding at the end the following: In this section, the term shellfish mariculture means the cultivation of shellfish in their natural habitat for human consumption. .
