Sec. 2883. Joint base facility management of Department of Defense

Not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report containing a reassessment by the Secretary of each military department regarding the facility management workforce of joint bases. Each reassessment required under paragraph
(1)shall include— an assessment of the workload requirements of facility management offices with respect to the work required to maintain facilities located on joint bases; an assessment of the number of workers needed to satisfy the requirements described in subparagraph (A); an identification of, including the reasons for, any gaps between the number of workers described in subparagraph
(B)and the number of workers in the facility management workforce on the date of such reassessment; and a strategy on how to address such gaps. Not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a briefing on identifying the funding allocations for maintenance of facilities of joint bases, and an assessment of any risk to mission readiness resulting from such allocations. In this section, the term joint base means a military installation (as defined in section 2801 of title 10, United States Code) for which more than one Secretary of a military department has jurisdiction.
