Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Commandant shall provide to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a briefing on— the status of the acquisition and procurement of second-generation Special Purpose Craft–Heavy Weather (SPC–HWX II) vessels consistent with section 11104(a)(3) of the Don Young Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022 (division K of Public Law 117–263 ); the timeline for the deployment of such vessels to stations in the Pacific Northwest previously served by the first-generation Special Purpose Craft–Heavy Weather vessels and the National Motor Lifeboat School; funding levels required each fiscal year to meet the requirements completing the fleet size prescribed in section 11104(a)(3) of the Don Young Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022 (division K of Public Law 117–263 ) not later than fiscal year 2030; any outstanding barriers to the timeliness of such deployment; and any instances where the Coast Guard was unable to deploy or complete statutory missions, including towing missions, due to the lack of such first generation heavy weather craft.
