Sec. 1705. Authorization of United States Coast Guard rotary aircraft work at Department of Defense depots

On a reimbursable basis and subject to subsection (b), the Secretary of Defense is authorized to conduct rotary aircraft work for the United States Coast Guard at any depot of the Department of Defense. Before the Secretary of Defense may use the authority under subsection
(a)during any fiscal year, the Commandant of the Coast Guard shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees an annual certification for that year that includes each of the following: Certification that the Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center has reached or exceeded its capacity to conduct required maintenance. Certification that the use of the authority under subsection
(a)will not have a negative effect on the workforce of the Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center. In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives; and the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate.
