Section 6 of the War Powers Resolution ( 50 U.S.C. 1545 ) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: Subsections
(a)through
(d)of this section may not apply with respect to a joint resolution or bill introduced pursuant to section 5(b) which authorizes the use of United States Armed Forces for a period of more than 5 years or an unspecified period of time. . This Act, and the amendment made by this Act, shall apply with respect to a joint resolution or bill introduced pursuant section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution ( 50 U.S.C. 1544(b) ) (commonly referred to as an Authorization for Use of Military Force ) after the date of the enactment of this Act.
