The Secretary of Health and Human Services (in this section referred to as the Secretary ) shall establish and maintain a permanent advisory committee to be known as the Advisory Committee on Human Foods (referred to in this section as the Committee ). The Committee shall advise the Commissioner on issues related to food science, nutrition, and food safety. The Secretary shall ensure that the Committee is composed of experts on nutrition, experts on food safety, and representatives of consumer, producer, and health professional organizations.
