Sec. 605. Independent investigations for ICE officer-involved shootings

In each case in which an immigration officer (as such term is defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act ( 8 U.S.C. 1101 )) discharges a firearm in the course of enforcing the immigration laws (as such term is defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act ( 8 U.S.C. 1101 )), the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, acting through the Civil Rights Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, shall conduct an investigation into such case to determine whether the officer violated any Federal law, acted in a negligent manner, or acted in violation of any applicable protocols.
Upon completion of an investigation under subsection (a), the Director shall submit the findings of the investigation to the United States Attorney’s Office for the district in which the incident occurred, and to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
