The Director of the Peace Corps may carry out demonstration projects to test the feasibility of permitting individuals who serve fewer than 27 months as a volunteer (as such term is used in the Peace Corps Act ( 22 U.S.C. 2501 et seq. )) to serve as a volunteer in the United States, and not abroad.
