The Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation for National and Community Service shall carry out a public awareness campaign to educate individuals likely to provide the greatest influence on youth, including parents, grandparents, teachers, guidance counselors, clergy, and coaches, on opportunities for youth to engage in national service, the impacts of national service, and ways to encourage youth to provide such service. Funds made available to carry out this subsection may be used to identify best practices, carry out national outreach and education campaigns, produce and make available materials for schools and students from kindergarten through grade 12, facilitate access to national service information and opportunities, and advertise national service programs nationwide.
Not later than 60 days after the end of the fiscal year in which funds are made available to carry out the public awareness campaign under subsection (a), the Chief Executive Officer shall submit to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate, and the Committee on Education and Workforce of the House of Representatives, a report describing the scope and effectiveness of the public awareness campaign under this section. There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to carry out the campaign under subsection (a), including for salaries and expenses related to such campaign.
