The Secretary shall establish a Bureau of Diplomatic Technology, which shall perform such functions related to the planning, acquisition, governance, security, integration, modernization, and oversight of the Department’s information technology, systems, and communications infrastructure, as the Under Secretary for Management may prescribe. The Chief Information Officer shall be the head of the Bureau of Diplomatic Technology.
