Sec. 555. Increase in maximum sentence for the offense of voluntary manslaughter under the Uniform Code of Military Justice

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Joint Service Committee on Military Justice, shall review and recommend to the President an increase for the maximum sentence for voluntary manslaughter under section 919(a) of title 10, United States Code (article 119(a) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice). Following receipt of the recommendation under subsection
(a)but not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall prescribe regulations updating the maximum sentence for voluntary manslaughter under section 919(a) of title 10, United States Code (article 119(a) of the Unform Code of Military Justice), in accordance with such recommendation.
