The Secretary of Defense shall conduct an updated study on opioid prescribing to ensure that the provider practices of medication-prescribing health professionals across the military health system conform with— the clinical practice guidelines of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs; and the prescribing guidelines published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.
